Textile Institute of Pakistan is one of the oldest and popular
textile institutes in Pakistan which provides different types textile courses
to their students. Textile Institute of Pakistan is also well known as TIP. Textile
industry is one of the largest industry sectors in Pakistan. More than 45%
export earnings comes from this sector and also more than 39% employment of Pakistan
work in this sector.
So this is one of the important industrial sectors of Pakistan
and Pakistan need to improve this sector. To improve this sector, Textile
Institute of Pakistan was established in 1994 under the aegis of APTMA in
affiliation with University of Clemson.
After that, in 2001, TIP was awarded a degree awarding
charter by Government of Sindh. TIP is authorized to award its own degrees under
recognition of the Higher
Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. In the past, students of TIP
have also enjoyed a higher education link with the University Of Manchester, UK
through the British Council. Credits obtained at TIP are still transferable,
and a number of students have completed their 4 years undergraduate programs
with a UoM degree after completing their initial 2 years at TIP. Export Promotion
Bureau of Pakistan has played a significant role to improve TIP in the shape of
generous financial assistance through the EDF (export development fund). In 2007,
Textile Institute of Pakistan was established its first research institute Textile
Research & Innovation Centre (TRIC) aimed at promoting advanced materials
research in the field of technical textiles.
Textile Institute of Pakistan started their journey with the
vision “to providing open, free and challenging environment for research based
learning, to develop stakeholder-preferred human resources, with creative and
well rounded personalities, for the management and enhancement of Socioeconomic Value Addition.” And the mission Provide state of art
infrastructure and facilities relevant to needs of academic and practical
education and training for both local and international needs, Make available a
faculty, from within and/or outside Pakistan, who can not only impart the
knowledge and expertise but are recognized by relevant stakeholders to be as
such and many more.

Textile Institute of Pakistan offers a four-year,
eight-semester bachelor's degree program in the following four disciplines:
- BSc (Hons) in Textile Science
- BSc (Hons) in Textile Design Technology
- BBA (Hons) in Textile Management and Marketing
- BBA (Hons) in Apparel Manufacturing and Merchandising
- BBA (Hons) in Fashion Design Management
- BBA (Hons) - Marketing, Management, Finance or Supply Chain
The institute
provides so many facilities to their students. The institute has a large campus
area. The institute is purpose built (200,000 sq.ft. covered area) along
a state of the art architectural design by a leading architect on 50 acres of
land located on the National Highway about 30 minutes drive from the airport. The
institute has well decorated classroom for students with multimedia system. The
institute provides computer lab facilities, Wi-Fi facilities in campus area. They
have also large laboratory and research facilities. TIP provides hostels and
transportation facilities to their students.
