The textile industry offers tremendous
scope for employment. From the processing of raw materials to the designing of
apparel and furnishings the textile industry is a major employer of skilled as
well as unskilled labour. Even though the textile industry has been from a
historical standpoint one that employs unskilled labour, there are qualified
individuals who have been entering the field as well because of the scope that
it offers. Students of textile design
after finishing their graduation can easily find employment in the industry
within six months. One-third of the students work in the art, design and media
sector and 18% of them work as textile or clothing designers. In order to truly
understand how a textile mill works students need to gain some experience of
having worked in one as a summer vacation or entry level job.
