BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) is one of the leading private universities in Bangladesh which provides different textile degrees including postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma and certificate courses. The university was established by Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in 1999.

The university was affiliated to the National University of Bangladesh in 2001. BGMEA University of Fashion Technology provides technical textile education to develop the human recourse of this country as well as to develop the textile sector of this country.

The aim and objectives of the university are To develop BUFT as an international standard institute of Apparel, Fashion Design, Apparel Merchandising, Textile Technology and other allied areas, To delivery international standard education in fashion and technology and other areas as mentioned, To strengthen the Bangladesh export oriented RMG, textile and other allied industries by providing technically skilled human resources and so on. The mission of BUFT is to establish a international standard ‘State of Art’ Institution for education, training, research and development to produce highly qualified, dynamic, versatile, creative and skilled human resources for fashion and design, apparel and textile technology and the vision is to establish itself as a “Center of Excellence” to produce technically competent human resources for the RMG, Apparel and allied sectors. 

The university campus situated in a good location of Uttora of Dhaka city. Uttora is a good location because of easy communication network with whole Dhaka city as well as whole country. The university campus has total area of 50,000 sq ft floor space. The university has a proposed permanent campus also. The university has a large library with huge collection (approximately 4,000) of textile related books, journals etc. BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology also provides lab facilities to their students. They have computer lab, CAD lab, sewing lab, knit lab, textile testing lab, pattern lab, product development lab, etc. All labs are equipped with state of the art equipment. The whole campus including office, classrooms, library, and laboratory are fully air conditioned. All classrooms are well decorated and fitted with multimedia projector.
