Clothing is the basic need of human being. From the ancient time human used clothing to prevent their shame. At first human are used bark, leather, and leaf as clothing to prevent their shame. From time to time clothing industry has developed but the development of clothing industry or garments industry was not so easy.
Clothing and textiles have been important in human history and reflects the materials available to a civilization as well as the technologies that it has mastered. The social significance of the finished product reflects their culture. Now-a-days, textile industry not only related with clothing but also related with automobiles, agro industry, medical industry etc. which are generally known as technical textile industry. 

To develop this industry human need to research, invent new technology which helps to develop garments and clothing industry. Now-a-days the demand of textile education is increased because there are a large textile and garments industry in many countries which produced and develop garment so that they need technical and educated person. So many countries has a large number of textile universities, colleges and institutes which provides different types textile degree including postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma degree etc.  If anyone wants to build their carrier in textile industry, he/she should take up a textile related degree which helps them more. 

The first textile education was started in United Kingdom (UK) and Europe more than 150 years ago. UK and Europe industrialized country in that time so that they need technical and educated person to develop their industry and they started textile education. For technology education ‘Mechanics Institutes’ were established in 1824 which provides technical textile education. In 100 years ago that means in 1911-1929, textile education was started in Indian subcontinent. In that time some District Weaving School was established and provides weaving and basic textile related education. From time to time the textile education also developed and also divided into many sub-sectors. 

Why you need Textile Education or why you study Textile? There are so many answers for this question. If you want to build your carrier in garments industry then you should need textile education which helps in your action fields. You need textile education because Developing strategic action plan, Handling problems related to gender issues, Evaluation and monitoring, Development of supply chain, Labor safeguard provisions, Develop product, Invent new product and textile technology, Firefighting and disaster management and so on.
